Kermit W. Kerns, age 84, of Schererville, passed away November 6, 2008.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Joyce; three children: Wanda (Vince) Corsello, Elaine (Charles) Craft and Wayne (Betty) Kerns; four grandchildren: Vince Jr. (Kasey), Anthony, Dominic and Melanie (Patrick); two great grandchildren: Sean and Charlie; sisters: Wilma Fisher and Carol Hedrick; several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his sisters: Virginia Holt and Mary Olsen.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 10, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at Dyer United Methodist Church, 2016 Church Street, Dyer, with Rev. Ken Puent officiating.
At rest Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Schererville. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Sunday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Lincoln-Ridge Funeral Home, 7607 W. Lincoln Highway (Rt. 30 east of Cline Ave.), Schererville. The American Legion Post 485 will hold a military honor service Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
Kermit was a retired school teacher with Lake Central High School and was their Athletic Director. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy WWII, a member of American Legion Post 485 and a member of the Dyer United Methodist Church.
