Lester E. Burtard, age 85, of 1020A S. 25th St., Manitowoc, died Mon. Aug. 1, 1994, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wed., Aug. 3, 1994, at Jens Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Kujawski will officiate with cremation to follow.
He was born September 29, 1908, in Sheboygan WI, son of the late Nicholas and Louise Herver Burtard. He attended schools in the Sheboygan area. He married Dorothy Zimmermann June 27, 1936 in Sheboygan. The couple moved from Sheboygan to Manitowoc in 1936. He owned and operated an upholstery shop in Manitowoc for 58 years. While in business he took in high school students and taught them the trade in his shop. He enjoyed reading and going to art fairs.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, Manitowoc; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert and Karlyn Burtard, Two Rivers; one daughter; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; other relatives. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Friends may call at Jens Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. on Wed. with the service to follow.
Memorials may be made to the Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church.
