Published in the Piscataquis (ME) Observer 28 Jan 1858 p3: "SAD CASUALTY---On the 17th inst., Mr. Elijah Young of Lincolnville was cutting wood at his own door, when a little son about eight years of age suddenly placed his hand upon the log and the axe came down chopping it quite off! The lad was carried into the house of his grandfather, Moses Young, Esq., when the appearance of the poor fellow so excited the grandmother, Mrs. Young, that she took to her bed and died the next morning."
