..."AGED WOMAN TAKEN BY DEATH - Funeral services were held from the Simmons-Olliff Funeral Home in Smith Center for Mrs. Becca Ann Dannels, widow of D. B. Dannels, who passed away last Thursday at the home of her daughter Mrs. Perry Nelson at Reamsville."

From Franklin, Nebraska newspaper dated November 6, 1947:
...SMITH COUNTY PIONEER DIES AT REAMSVILLE
...Becca Ann Dannels, daughter of William and Elizabeth Ketterman was born in Black Hawk County, Iowa, Dec. 12, 1855 (sic) and departed this life on October 30, 1947, at Reamsville, Kans., at the age of 91 years, 10 months and 18 days. [Note: she was born on December 12, 1857 near the town of Finchford, Black Hawk Co., Iowa.]
...When she was 8 years old both parents were deceased and she and her brother and sisters found home with relatives. Becca Ann lived with her grandparents in Marysville, Iowa (sic) where she attended school and grew to womanhood. [Note: wrong town is listed here, she lived with her grandmother near the town of Vinton in Polk Twp, Benton Co., Iowa]
...On April 25, 1872 (sic), she was married to David Bowen Dannels. [Note: Iowa marriage lic.2:3LcsFo1 states the date is 25 Apr 1873 in Vinton, Benton Co., IA] To this union were born 12 children. Four daughters preceded her in death. Nancy died April 20, 1876 in Iowa, Elizabeth Cline passed away Oct. 30, 1901, Anna E. White deceased May 23, 1920, and Etta Billings who died August 30, 1947.
...The surviving children are William D. of Blessings, Texas, Lewis V. of Siloam Springs, Ark., Courtney J. of Savanna, Illinois, David E. of Concordia, Kans., Harvey H. of Franklin, Margaret A. Nelson of Reamsville, Kansas, Bitha Woods of Springfield, Ore., Rose Hays of Norton, Kans.
...She is also survived by 41 grandchildren and 62 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. 18 grandsons and great grandsons served in the late war.
...In 1876 she and her husband came to Kansas to find a new home. Besides her own daughter she brought with her in the covered wagon the aged grandmother who had raised her and a six year old orphan nephew.
...The new home was a dugout in German township in Smith County, Kans., and it was here on the homestead that five sons and five daughters were born. She and her husband prospered and were soon able to build a house. Her home was always a haven for the homeless and she and her husband took pride in keeping the latch string out. There was always room for an extra plate on the long kitchen table and a warm bad for any wayfarer who called at their door.
...In 1901 when the daughter, Elizabeth was taken, she left an infant son 7 months old and despite the fact that Mother had raised 12 children her arms reached out and clapsed the motherless one whom she cared for until he was grown.
...In 1909 the Kansas home was sold and the family moved to Matagorda County, Texas, where the husband passed away February 14, 1917. Mrs. Dannels continued on the farm. When the daughter Anna was called in death she left three little boys motherless and again Mother Heart responded and she took two of them, aged 2 and 3, and cared for them until the father could provide a home for them.
...In 1925 she returned to Kansas where she has since resided, but her work of caring for children was not yet finished. When she was past 74 years old she answered the call of mercy and for one year stayed in a home from which the mother had been taken and gave to the lonely family a mother's love and care.
...Besides the one above mentioned help had found her door open, cared for three elderly people and at various times others who need- help had found her door open.
...She had been a member of the Christian church for 80 years but her life needs no comment. It was one of industry and loving service.
...Interment was in Fairview cemetery where her husband and three daughters rest on Nov. 1.
...Among those from here attending the funeral of Mrs. Becca Dannels, 91, at Smith Center, Saturday were a son, Harvey Dannels and Harvey Dannels, Jr., a granddaughter, Mrs. A. E. Norton, and Mr. Norton, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Norton, Mrs. Ray Gooder and Mrs. Joe Schenk. (AHS-1May2011)
