Funeral services for Mrs. A. B. (Esther) Cahalan were held Monday afternoon in the United Church of Christ of Christ-Congregational at Belle Fourche. Burial was in the Belle Fourche Cemetery.
Mrs. Cahalan died Wednesday April 28, in the Jenkins Nursing Home in Watertown at the age of 85. She had been a resident of the Home since April 1974.
Mrs. Cahalan was born August 26, 1890, in Centerville, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Quarnberg. She married William F. Thomas in March 1918. In December 1962 she married A.B. Cahalan. He died at Miller in March 1974. Mrs. Cahalan was a member of the United Church of Christ-Congregational and the PEDO Sisterhood at Miller.
Survivors include a son, William F. Thomas of Watertown; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Lillian Wittman of Santa Rosa, Calif.; and two brothers, Paul Quarnberg of Phoenix, Ariz., and Carl Quarnberg of Rapid City.
Member of the Cahalan family were in Watertown Saturday for visitation.

From the obit, it says she was born in Centerville, which is in Turner County, but the SD Birth record says she was born in Clay county; this memorial reflects the official document. It also gives her middle name ' Victoria '.
