Owen Webster Batrum was born in Bucyrus, Ohio in 1869. He grew to adulthood in Chenoa, Illinois. On Oct. 29, 1891 he married Emma Sayers. By 1895, he was practicing law in Chenoa, and after divorcing Emma, he married Grace Allen on Dec. 31, 1900. He was promoted to assistant District Attorney in Chenoa. By 1916, he moved to Oklahoma City with his wife Grace and their four children, Doris, Fred, Pauline, and Alan. Tragically he contracted influenza during the great flu epidemic of 1918. He passed away at the age of 49. He is buried in Fairlawn Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
