Hazel Marie Palmquist Hanson, age 80, of Austin passed away on Friday June 7, 2002 in Austin, Texas. Hazel was born on May 1, 1922 in Austin, Texas to Jewel Grace and Arthur E. Palmquist Sr. She spent her youth in Austin and attended S F Austin High School.

She married the love of her life Paul W. Hanson on December 10, 1943 and they enjoyed 43 wonderful years until his death in 1986.

Hazel pursued a career as a Data Processor with local banks and developed other successful business ventures in the Austin area. She was a life member of The Ruh Neb Temple number 64 Austin, Texas, Daughters of the Nile and a 50 year member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Austin Chapter Number 304.

She also was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church of Austin, Texas.

Hazel enjoyed the music she played and she and her organ were the center of each Holiday Season. Her home was always open and she welcomed everyone, offering to each a loving home, she was a gracious hostess.

Hazel will be missed by her family and her many friends.

Hazel was preceded in death by her beloved husband Paul Hanson, her mother and father and by her brother Melvin Eugene Palmquist. Her two sisters Adelia Virginia Ouellette of Austin, Jewell Janell Herrin of Cedar Park, Texas and one brother Arthur E. Palmquist Jr. and his wife Mary Helen of Austin survive her. Six nephews, one niece and numerous great and great-great nephews and nieces, and many friends.

Services, Wednesday June 12, 2002 at the First United Methodist Church, 1201 Lavaca Austin, Texas.
