On July 4, 1903 in Flagstaff, AZ twenty-two year old George Clark married sixteen year old Louise Casner. They lived in the same house on Beaver Creek as a widower, John Skaggs. Skaggs and Clark raised corn as a cash crop. There was hard feelings between Skaggs and Clark. In the fall of 1905, George went missing. His wife, Louise, sent for her father and after searching, they found him in Beaver Creek, dead from a gunshot wound. Louise would charge Mr. Skaggs of the murder. A grand jury convened on 11-4-1905 and indicted Skaggs. When the trial was held, after hearing the evidence, the jury deliberated only two hours and found Skaggs not guilty. He shortly thereafter sold his land and left the area.

Louise, only seventeen, on 10-16-1906 married William Goswick. She lived the remainder of her life in Yavapai County.

The Casner Family Cemetery is located on the Beaver Creek Ranch Campus of Southwestern Academy.
