Prentiss, Miss (AP) - Wayne Parker, 17, of Gulfport died here Thursday night after he was stricken at a high school basketball game at Bassfield. A member of the B Team for East Columbia, Parker signaled for a time out, took a few steps and fell to the floor officials said. He was rushed to Jefferson Davis County Hospital here in a private car and died soon after arrival. Parker was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pass Christian. He was born July 2, 1952, in Gulfport. He had been a resident of Columbia for 14 months, prior to which he resided with his grandmother, Mrs. Ida Stephenson, Route 1, Pass Christian. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Nell Penton, Long Beach, his father Perry Parker, address not listed; stepfather, Wilton Lavern Penton, Long Beach; one brother, Daniel Parker, Pass Christian; and a sister, Mrs. Katherine Lindsey, address not listed; and his grandmother, Mrs. Stephenson. Funeral services will be at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Riemann Chapel in Gulfport. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Saturday. Interment will be at Allen Cemetery. The Rev. Carl McArn, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Pass Christian, will officiate.
