Laddie Jackson Bennett, a retired IBM employee who worked in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, in Baton Rouge. He was born Aug. 18, 1914, in Mangum, Okla., was a resident of Baton Rouge for 57 years and a former resident of Texas.
Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with Masonic service at 7 p.m. Visiting at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Doris Althea Crary Bennett; two daughters, Lynnette B. Frazer and husband Thomas L. Frazer and Jeanne B. Strickland and husband James Michael Strickland; a son, Richard C. "Rick" Bennett and wife Sharon J. Bennett; a sister, Joyce B. Thompson; eight grandchildren, Daun Moore Brown, Shaun Moore, Shawn and Mark Frazer, Ashley Sides and Amanda, Aimee and Ricky Bennett; and five great-grandchildren, John Thomas, Caroline and Jackson Sides, Joshua Beau Brown and Emily Eglin Frazier.
Preceded in death by his parents, Henry D. and Bertha R. Bennett; two brothers, Marvin Bennett and Lenford Carl Bennett; and two sisters, Obera B. Downs and Mona Jean Bennett.
He was a member of Capital Lodge No. 399, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 163 and Acacia Shrine. He attended Texas A&M University.
