US Congressman. He graduated from Williams College, Massachusetts in 1810, studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Skaneateles, New York. He was a member of the New York State assembly, (1814-15). In 1817, he was elected as a Republican to the Fifteenth Congress, serving until 1819. Not candidate for re-nomination, he resumed the practice of law and was a surrogate of Onondaga County, New York, (1822-24). He then moved to Albany, New York and served as register of the court of chancery until his death at age 51.
