Parkers celebrate 70th anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Parker of Long Beach celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary July 31, 1996. The couple were originally married July 31, 1926 in Gulfport. Mr. Parker is a retired carpenter and supervisor at Gulfport College. Mrs. Parker, the former Daisy Lee Bond, is a homemaker. The couple have four children, Gladys Alexander, Delia Alexander, Joseph E. Parker Sr. and Dlores Rushing; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Daisy Lee Parker, 88, of Long Beach, died Tuesday, November 18, 1997, in Long Beach. Mrs. Parker was a native and lifelong resident of Long Beach and was a member of Long Beach Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Joseph E. Parker; a son, Joseph E. Parker Jr.; three daughters, Gladys Eleanor Alexander, Delia Mae Alexander, and Delores Alexander, all of Long Beach; a brother, Hillyard Ward Bond of Memphis, TN; a half sister, Marion Alexander of Long Beach; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Riemann Funeral Home in Long Beach. A service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with burial in Allen Cemetery in Long Beach.
