She was born on February 8, 1919 in Patrick County and was a daughter of the late Kitt and Dillie Overby Dalton.
She was also preceded in death by her husbands, George Clinton Handy, Simon Thomas Bowman and Hughes Clark "Dynamite" Beasley; two sons, including an infant and Simon Amos Bowman; four sisters and three brothers.
Surviving are four daughters, Vera Golden and Dot Pigg, both of Mount Airy, N.C., Carol Stevens of Ararat and Marie Wright of Mount Airy; two sons, James Glenn Handy of Ridgeway and Charlie Bowman of Claudville; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Moody Funeral Home chapel in Stuart; the Revs. Bill Spurlin and Woodrow Flippen officiated. Burial was in State Line Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brian Stevens, Stevie Golden, Darrell Bowman, Mike Bowman, Jeffrey Wright, Greg Flippen, Tommy Slate and Grayson Montgomery.
