Benjamin Thomas Davis served as Captain in Company E, Twenty-First South Carolina Infantry, C.S.A. He was killed in action in the Battle of Bermuda Hundred/Fort Stevens/Cold Harbor, Virginia and is buried there. Gen. W.D. Craig had this stone placed to his memory. ("Broken Fortunes," p. 87, Randolph W. Kirkland, 1995. South Carolina Historical Society, Charleston, SC.) No record of his widow after 1860.
