Robert "Bob" Allen Barbee, 54, of 1462 Maryland Avenue, died Monday, July 6, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born September 14, 1954, in Nebraska City, NE, he was the son of Layton W. Barbee of Bloomington, IL, and Patsy Rains Ervin of Nebraska City, NE. He was a specialty roofer at Pickens Roofing with 22 years of service and later at Spartan Roofing. He was a member of Temple Independent Methodist Church where he was a Beginners Sunday School teacher, choir member, and member of the Church Governing Board. A disabled U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, he was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Meritorious United Commendation Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal.

Surviving in addition to his parents is his wife, Shirley Barbee; two daughters, Dana Barbee Siegfried and her husband Kip, and Stefanie Barbee Corbin and her husband Wesley, all of Spartanburg; two granddaughters, Savannah Siegfried and Gabriele Siegfried; a grandson, Hunter Corbin, expected on his grandfather's birthday; several brothers and sisters residing in the Midwest; a large, loving Church family; and many beloved friends.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2009, at Temple Independent Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Rex Keaton. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum.

Honorary Escort will be current and former members of the New Horizons Sunday School Class.
