He married Amybell Catherine Porter Saturday 23 Sep 1944 in Traverse City. He lived most of his life in Buckley and worked for Parsons Corporation in Traverse City for 17 years.

LeRoy Raymond 'Roy' Byers of Buckley died Friday morning 26 Jan 1979 at the age of 56 y 8 m 6 d at his home in Buckley. Cause of death was Cardiovascular Failure and CVA. Survivors included his wife Amybell; 2 daughters Sandra Lee Byers of Manton, and Penny Lynn Byers of Grand Rapids; his mother Nina Eva Byers; 2 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph 11 Nov 1975; 1 brother, Earl William Byers 20 Apr 1972, and 1 infant daughter, Nina Ann Byers 15 Sep 1945.

Funeral services were 2 pm Monday 29 Jan 1979 at Covell-Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley with the Rev Marroll Dickerson officiating.

Burial was in Block 24 Lot 53 Lot 2 in Sherman-Mesick Memorial Cemetery in Mesick. The plot was owned by Roy Raymond Byers. His stone says Dad.
