Dode was the second child, second daughter born to Henry and Lulu (Chaussee) Walz. She grew up and attended school at Vermillion, graduating in 1932. She attended the University of South Dakota through her junior year, where she became a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. In 1935 she married Robert N. Graham of Mitchell SD. They lived at Yankton and Watertown until 1943 when they moved to San Clemente CA. In 1946 they return to South Dakota and later to Rock Rapids. While living in Mitchell, Dode served as Librarian at Dakota Wesleyan Library. She was a member of Chapter AP of the P.E.O., 20th Century and Fortnight Study Clubs and the Methodist Church. In 1961 she married Raymond C. Prahl; after Ray's death in 1981, Dode remained in Rock Rapids and was active in both the church and P.E.O. She was survived by her daughter, Julianne Condon, five grandchildren: Cameron and Cara Condon; Jan and Jody Graham; Kate Hendrickson and great-grandson, Zack Hankel, and seven nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Ray; son, James Graham; a brother Richard Walz and a sister, Vivian Walz Anderson.
