Funeral services for Rayford E. Gantt, 91, of Longview, will be held at 12 p.m., July 13, 2009, at Rader Funeral Home, with Dr. David Massey officiating. Private interment will be at the Rosewood Cemetery under the direction of Rader's.
Rayford was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on July 6, 2009, from his home in Longview.
Mr. Gantt was born November 18, 1917, in Klondyke, Texas, and raised in Bonham, Texas. He was the youngest of 10 children born to Dolphus and Mary Ellen Gantt. Rayford was a veteran of World War II who moved to Longview over 50 years ago,- first as manager of Manley's Tire Sore, later as salesman for McWilliams Furniture, and ending his career as co-owner of Mosley-Gantt Magnavox TV and Appliance Store.
Rayford married Oleta Stewart on her 20th birthday, June 26, 1938, and together they celebrated 71 years of marriage.
Rayford was a long-time member of the Mobberly Avenue Baptist Church
