U.S. Congressman. Born in Stanford, New York, he studied law, was admitted to the bar and then proceeded to practice law in Duanesburg and Sherburne, New York. During the Revolutionary War, he served in the Continental Army, (1779-80). After the war, he resumed the practice of law, was a member of the New York State Assembly (1803-04) and was judge of the Chenango County court of common pleas, (1807-13). In 1813, he was elected as a Federalist to the Thirteenth Congress, serving until 1815. After his term, he continued practice of law until his death at age 82 in Brooklyn, New York.
