Beloved husband of Virginia; loving father of George Barry (Cary) Knapp, Joan Knapp (DeWayne Enyeart), Keith (Peggy) Knapp, Cheryl Knapp (Sue Whitfield) and Gayle Knapp (Patrick Peloso); dear grandfather of Jennifer, Mary, Georgia, David, Elizabeth, Michael, Shannon, Traci, Ashley and Michael; proud great-grandfather of Sidley, Brandon and Cameron; fond brother of the late Marvin (Mary) Knapp; uncle of many.
Retired UCC Pastor serving the Evangelical Comm UCC in Blue Island for four years, Zion UCC in Dyer, IN for 13 years, Peace Church UCC in Bellwood for 16 years, St. John JCC in Melrose Pork for 17 years and Chaplain at Plymouth Place in LaGrange Park for 19 years; also served three other churches in So. Illinois/Missouri area. Life member Westchester Kiwanis, American Legion, VFW, National D-Day Museum, Military Order of the Purple Heart and Chapel of the Four Chaplains; Member and National Chaplain/Chaplain Emeritus of the National 4th Division Association 1945-2005.
Visitation Tuesday, 4:00-9:00 p.m. at Hursen Funeral Home, SW Corner of Roosevelt and Mannaheim Roads, HiIlside/Westchester.
Memorial service Wednesday 10:00am at Plymouth Place, 315 N. LaGrange Road, LaGrange Park, IL. Interment Wednesday 2:00pm at Abraham Lincoln Nationol Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
