US Congressman. A member of the Republican party, he served in the US House of Representatives from New York for one term, from March 1889 until March 1891. After graduating from Adelphi Academy at Brooklyn, New York in 1873, he attended Wesleyan University at Middletown, Connecticut, graduating in 1876, and from Columbia College Law School (now Columbia University) at New York City, New York in 1878 and began practicing law. From 1880 until 1883 he served as assistant US Attorney for the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. In 1888 he ran on the Republican ticket for Congress and was elected. He was an unsuccessful candidate for re-election in 1890 and after his term expired, he returned to Brooklyn, New York and resumed his law practice. In 1894 he was appointed judge advocate general on the staff of New York's Governor Morton. He died at his summer home in Warwick, New York at the age of 45.
