~ In 1958 The New Hope Trojan was dedicated to Miss Octavia Corr with the following article. ~

"To one who, with the exception of two year, has been a part of New Hope since its beginning, this editio of the Trojan is lovingly dedicated.

~ Miss Corr was a member of the faculty in 1923 when this school first opened its doors to students. She remembers when there was only one building and one faculty home, when teachers had to make their own fires; and often they brought some pine splinters from home to be sure they got them started. There was no lunch room in those days and the ball games were played on the campus.

~ She has seen many changes during these years, changes which meant progress and growth for the school. She has been a part of it all, and her infuluence has always been used for the upbuilding of her beloved New Hope. In spite of changes in the school one thing has always remained the same. She had a room full of children each year and she loved them all. Her dream for each one who ever came through her door was that each child would grow into a fine upstanding Christian Citizen. She did her part toward that end while she had them; and after they left her room, she followed their lives with the same loving care and interest.

~ It is because of her and thousands like her over our nation, who are dedicated to the task, that schools have been able to do the fine job of teaching the youth. Not only does our own gratitude go out to you, Miss Octavia, but we are also joined by that great group of others whom you have taught through the years ~ only eternity can reveal the good you have done."

I would like to add my thanks to you Miss Octavia for that dedication of teaching and loving each one of us who went through your classroom. I look forward to seeing you one great day.
