Marion Dunbar, 75, of Brighton died June 16, 2005, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.
Mr. Dunbar was born May 8, 1930, in Washington to Robert L. and Nine E. (Hole) Dunbar.
He married Joyce Braun in Sweetland, Iowa, Oct. 20, 1957.
Memorials have been established to the Brighton United Church or Parkview Manor in Wellman.
He graduated from Brighton High School in 1948.
Marion served in the U. S. Army Signal Corp in Korea during the Korean War.
He was a rural mail carrier at Wellman for 32 years and he operated the family farm for 50 years.
He was a member of the National Rural Letter Carriers Assoc. and the Iowa Rural Letter Carriers Association and held office at the district level, attending many state and national conventions.
Marion took local precipitation readings and measured the Skunk River levels for the U. S. Weather Bureau for 30 years. He was a Boy Scout leader of Brighton Boy Scout Troop 230 for several years, member of the Edgar C. Davisson American Legion Post NO. 212 in Brighton, a member of Naaman Lodge AF & AM No. 613 in Brighton, Brighton Order of the Eastern Star No. 486 and he was a member of the Brighton United Church.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; two sons, Lyndon of Cedar Rapids and Kirk and his wife, Michele, of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; three grandchildren; three brothers, James Dunbar of Brighton, Robert Dunbar of Missouri and Arthur Dunbar; two sisters, Dora Walker of Washington and Grace (Ginger) Hobday of Galt, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Alice Stout, Harriet Heth and Isabelle; nd one brother, Franklin.
