Mrs. Brown died at her Lakeview Park home on Sunday night following an illness of three weeks. She was born in Iowa and married in Sturges City, SD in 1885. She moved to Asheville, NC in 1889. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her son, James Van Brown Jr., who was killed in an accident in Panama in 1924. She is survived by her husband, Charles W Brown and two daughters, Miss Frances Ruth and Miss Opal Brown.
Mrs. Brown was a member of Central United Methodist Church and her services were conducted at her home in Lakeview Park by the Rev. O.J Chandler, Rev. L.W. Colson and Rev. G.A Stamper. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery.
