C W Trent died at his home in the west end of town this morning, at 8:45, after an illness of a year or more, his death being due to a complication of ailments.
He had been in very poor health for some time and gradually became weaker. Altho very sad, his death was not altogether unexpected, as his physicians and close friends realized that he was in a condition considered critical and beyond medical skill.
Mr Trent had been in the service of the C & O Ry for the past six years until probably a year ago, when he had to give up his position on account of failing health. He was taken to Florida three months ago for the benefit of the change of climate and hoping that this would improve his condition, but he was not improved and after remaining there a few weeks returned.
Mr Trent was about 40 years of age and leaves a wife and one daughter aged fourteen, and one son aged twelve years. He also leaves a large number of friends on the C & O and elsewhere, who will learn with much regret the news of his sad death.
The remains will be laid to rest Saturday, at Beaver, in Raleigh county, near Raleigh Station. The funeral party will leave on the early morning train for that place.
It is expected that a number of friends of the family will attend the funeral.
