Mrs. Lena Cuevas, age 91 and resident of Long Beach, died on Monday, October 25, 2004 in Gulfport. Mrs. Cuevas was a longtime resident of Long Beach and a member of Catahoula Baptist Church. She retired in 1976 from the Long Beach School District after serving 20 years with Food Services. The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses, Aides, and Staff of Memorial Hospital of Gulfport, Garden Park Medical Center and Trinity Hospice and extend a very special thank you to John & Rita and Sherry Frederick, her grandchildren and caregivers.
Mrs. Cuevas is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph & Grace Grego Chiniche; her husbands, Eugene E. Allen and Reverend Oswald Cuevas; her sisters, Josephine Gangloff, Annie Flenniken, Genevieve Maughan, Laura Shavers and Margaret Ladnier and her brothers, Santo Chiniche, Steve Chiniche, Henry Chiniche, Johnny Chiniche and Salvador Chiniche. Mrs. Cuevas is survived by her loving daughter, Margaret (Albert) Warden of Poplarville; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2004 from 6-8 pm at the Long Beach Chapel of Riemann Funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2004 at 4:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. burial will follow at Allen Cemetery in Long Beach.
