On January 1, 1905, he married Elizabeth Ann Hulse Garr, the widow of Johnny (Jack) Garr. She was born September 14, 1867, the daughter of Charles Wesley and Ann Smith Hulse.
Elizabeth never knew the meaning of luxury; she worked hard all her life. She took in washing and ironing to supplement the family income.
After the death of Pete, she continued to support herself until she was seventy-two years of age by picking beans. She cared for her children and her grandchildren when their babies were born. Through all of her troubled times, she never shirked her work nor her obligations. She served in the Relief Society and Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She always attended her LDS Church meetings and bore her testimony. She died in June 1947.
John Peter and Elizabeth were the parents of John Evan and Sesa Leora (died as a child).
