James Anthony "Jim" Daniel, 51, of Connersville died unexpectedly Friday, July 10, 2009, at his home.

Born May 17, 1958, in Shelbyville, he was the son of the late Robert R. "Dick" Daniel and Rita A. (Frank) Daniel of Connersville. He married Edwina Stidham on Oct. 28, 1978, at St. Gabriel Church, and she survives.

Other survivors include his daughter, Christina "Chrissy" (husband, James) Armstrong of Whiteland; brothers, Jeffrey M. (wife, Patsy) Daniel and John D. Daniel, both of Milton; sisters, Brenda A. (husband, Rick) Hamilton of Punta Gorda, Fla., Barbara L. Daniel and Becky M. Hanson, both of Connersville, and Beth C. Daniel of Muncie; grandson, Owen James Armstrong; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Daniel resided in Connersville all of his life.

He was a lifelong farmer and was active in the Fayette County Cattlemen's Association.

Mr. Daniel graduated from Connersville High School, where he played football and was active in the FFA.

He was a life member of Fayette County Free Fair and active in 4-H. He also was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Daniel enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting, water-skiing and playing cards and was often accompanied by his dog, Buck.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m., at Urban-Winkler Funeral Home, 513 W. Eighth St. in Connersville.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 232 W. Ninth St. in Connersville, with Father Stanley Herber officiating.

Burial will be in Dale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made for the benefit of the family.
