Ralph Budd Hansen passed away February 5, 2002 in his sleep due to complications of congestive heart failure and diabetes.

Budd was born May 10, 1928 in Lovell, WY and was the son of "Viv" Hansen and Reva Robertson. He graduated from High School early and joined the famous Navy's V5 pilot training program. WWII was at an end and the program was soon disbanded and he was given an honorable discharge. His love for flying was fulfilled when he returned home and took flying lessons and got his license.

He served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Eastern States. After his mission, he went to school at Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma and graduated as an Aircraft and Engine Mechanic, then worked for Alaska Airlines. Later he worked for Lynch Flying Service of Billings, MT. He and a partner opened their own shop "Montana Airmotive Inc." It was during this time he met and married Patty Ann Speak on April 4, 1959. Later he sold out to his partner in the early sixties.

He became a Snap-On Tool dealer in an area that encompassed Livingston, MT down to Thermopolis, WY. Spending one week in Montana and the alternate week in Wyoming.

In 1966 he joined the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Department and in the seven years there obtained the rank of Captain of Detectives, which was next in command to the Undersheriff and Sheriff.

After leaving the Sheriff's Office, he bought a truck and began hauling crude oil out of the Uinta Basin. In the summer of 1981 he leased his truck to Admiral Transportation of Worland, WY, later leasing another truck to ATC and has had trucks there for over twenty-one years.

Budd always kept himself informed on our nations issues and well being. He was never afraid to voice his opinion when he felt the nations freedoms were being usurped. He taught that patriotism was something to be proud of and the Constitution and religion went hand in hand. He was a COnstitutional Republican and had great respect and reverence for the Founding Fathers and those that fought and died to keep this country free.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in Branch Presidencies, Bishoprics, was a High Priest Group Leader, Sunday School President, and on a District and High Council but the calling he enjoyed the most was that of a teacher. He was the adult Sunday School teacher in the Lovell 3rd Ward for over 14 years. His last calling in the Church was teaching the Priests. He enjoyed teaching these young men and was especially proud when they went on served missions. He loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and he never tired to teach and testify of it's truthfulness.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother and his elder brother Don and two daughters, Gale and Ann.

He is survived by his wife Patty of Lovell; five children, John Hansen of Worland, WY, Jeanette Cox of Powell, WY, Eric Hansen of Murray, UT, Cheryl Tirrell of Worland, WY, and Daniel Hansen of St. George, UT; and nine grandchildren who were a great source of joy to him. He is also survived by two sisters, Marilyn Dover of Lovell, WY and Sharon Lyman of Worland, WY; and a brother, Gordon Hansen of Las Vegas, NV.
