Cause of Death: Automobile and Train Collision.
According to Canton Township police, 19 year old Daniel Broughton, of Woodhaven was driving on a suspended license when he ignored a lowered bar and flashing lights that indicated a train was coming.
He drove a Black Ford Fusion around the bars in attempt to beat the train, and into the path of the oncoming Amtrak instantly killing himself and his four friends.
A surveillance video released by police showed that Broughton's car never slowed down as it approached the crossing. Broughton drove right past a stopped SUV that was waiting for the train before driving around the bars into the train's path
Broughton died in the crash along with Jessica Mae Pauline Sadler 14, of Wayne,
Eddie Dillen Gross 17, of Taylor,
and his brother, Sean Harris 18, of Taylor.
