Betty P. Jones, 79, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, July 10, 2009, at Legend Health Care at which time Bright-Holland Funeral Home received her into its care.
Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Monday, July 13, at Oak Park United Methodist Church with Rev. Bruce Cotton and Rev. Steve Cook officiating. Burial follows in Meadowbrook Gardens.
The family receives friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
She was born Jan. 16, 1930, the daughter of George Milton and Addie Florence Harmon Cherry. She married James E. Jones Sept. 5, 1947, in Cooper. She retired as a PBX operator at Paris Junior College. She loved to play bunco and attended many sports games at PJC. She was very active in many civic organizations, including United Methodist Women's Group, Beta Sigma Phi, Paris Business and Professional Women, Kiwanis Club and Altrusa.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; two sons, Teddy and Jimmy Jones; three brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by three sons; Ed Jones and wife, Paula, of Cooper, David Jones and wife, Patricia, of Blossom and Steve Jones and wife, Gayla, of Paris; one daughter, Nita Fowler and husband, Larry, of Paris; 16 grandchildren, Jackson Jones of Fort Worth, Alison Jones of Addison, Micah Jones and wife, Kim, of Blossom, Tiffanie Drake and husband, Jonathan, of Blossom, Sheena Jones of Blossom, Joshua Jones of Paris, Tyler Jones of Denton, Chrystal Richardson and husband, Rod, of Paris, Jeffery Jones and wife, Vicki, of Paris, Rodney Jones and wife, Becky, of Paris, Cody Sullivan of Pattonville, Wesley Sullivan of Paris, Brad Griffin and wife, Kelly, of Paris, Jamie Jones and Jennifer Jones of Hewitt; 18 great-grandchildren; surviving in-laws, Randall Jones and wife, Corine, of Euless, Tommy Jones and wife, Wanda, of Paris, Elizabeth Beasley and husband, Jim, Dorothy Paxton and Lucille Robbins, all of Dallas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
