Benjamin Leo Alger was the only son of Chester D. and Elizabeth A. Metzger Alger and brother of two elder sisters, Anna Elizabeth Alger(Edward Hyde)born in September of 1884 and Nellie M. Alger(Baird) born in 1885. Thier father died in a tragic accident in 1900 leaving his three children, the eldest of them Nellie who was six years old at the time, and their mother to mourn his death in very hard circumstances.

Excerpts from Ben's Obituary below do little to give a true picture of him, his inner strengths. It doesn't say as it should for example that he was inventive or a very talented Tool and Dye Maker as well who loved his work and not only tirelessly served his employer through his many skills but also his family, friends and neighbors for most of his life.
