Wallace Evert Asay, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Asay, was born Nov. 1, 1927 at Lovell. He spent his early childhood and youth at the family home south of Lovell. Wallace attended the Lovell schools until May, 1942, at which time the family moved to Bremerton, Wash. where his parents had obtained employment.

He attended school in Bremerton when they first moved there and later went to work in the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. In 1944 he joined the U.S. Navy where he served until his release in 1946.

Wallace was called to serve a mission for the LDS church and fulfilled a two year honorable mission in California. After his mission release, he worked a short time in Billings.

In 1951 he again joined the Navy, serving four more years. During his term in the Navy he served as Group Leader aboard ship. After his release from the Navy he joined the Air Force and was planning on making this his career.

Wallace served as Group Leader, Sunday school superintendent and was active in LDS church activities at his station.

He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Rebecca Ford in Washington, D.C. Aug 5, 1955, and to this union one son, Garth was born.

At the time of his death, Wallace was enroute to Fairchild Air Force Base, Spokane, Wash., where he was to be temporarily assigned while repairs were being made at Ellsworth Air Base, Rapid City, S.D., where he had recently been assigned. He died Sept. 10th as a result of an aircraft accident 28 miles from Fairchild landing field. Regardless of where he was sent, Wallace made friends and was highly thought of by his fellow servicemen.
