Grant Swenson
Grant Swenson, 81, Concordia, died Wednesday, April 5, 1989, at St. Joseph Hospital.
He was born Feb. 3, 1908, at Chanute, the son of Grant and Lillian Clark Swenson. He attended Hopewell School south of Concordia and later graduated from Concordia High School. On Aug. 15, 1935, he was married to Marjory Barleen.
Mr. Swenson farmed many years south of Concordia. He served as custodian of the Concordia Baptist Church for 15 years, retiring from the position in 1973. He was a member of the Baptist Church and the 100F Lodge which he served as secretary for over 35 years. He was assessor for Center Township for 13 years.
Survivors include his wife Marjory of Concordia; one son, Dale and wife Madlyn of Linn; two daughters, Carlene and husband Richard Diller of Wichita, and Karen and husband Rick Gates of Russell; two brothers, Travis of Concordia and Theodore of Simi Valley, Calif.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 7, at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James Autrey officiating. Burial will be in Kindel Cemetery south of Concordia.
