He was a farmer, former service manager for Bush-Holloway Ford, Chillicothe, IL, and lawn care in the Oblong area for many years. He was a member of the Robinson Wesleyan Church. Earnie enjoyed working on small engines.
On August 4, 1951, he married Neva Marie Piersall, who survives along with three sons and daughters-in-law, Ed & Julie Mendenhall, Earnie & Paula Mendenhall Jr. and Maurice & Angie Mendenhall; three daughters and sons-in-law,Twyla Rosson, Connie & Rick Clough and Lisa & Frank Yager; 22 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Smith "Buster" & Wanda Mendenhall; one sister, Ruby Bex and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Othel "Chub", Pearl, Earl "Pinky" and Bennie Jr. Mendenhall; two sisters, Edna Scott and Bessie Hale.
