Community Saddened by Death of Young Lady
The community is saddened by the untimely death of Mrs. Alton Marks of Elkland township and her demise has brought the bitter cup of sorrow to the lips of friends and relatives.
Mrs. Marks was a victim of influenza and she was ill but a week with the disease, passing away Monday morning at her home north of Cass City. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 24, at four o'clock, Rev. Dunk officiating and interment made in Elkland cemetery.
Ruby Watson was born July 25, 1897, at Wickware, Sanilac county. She graduated from the Cass City high school in 1918, attended the Ypsilanti normal school that summer and taught the Holbrook school for a short time. On Dec. 24, 1918, she was united in marriage with Alton Marks and since that time has resided on a farm north of Cass City.
Besides her husband, she leaves her father, Jas. Watson, and one brother, Vern, and a host of sorrowing relatives and friends.
