Chief Warrant Officer Rodney A. Jarvis of Akron, Ohio attended Ellet High School, graduating in 1993. He joined the Army that same year, and met his future wife the following year. They were married in 1995. The family eventually settled in Newton, Texas to raise their family. The 14-year veteran was currently serving in Iraq. He was last home in March of 2009 on leave, and was scheduled to come home in September 2009. He had previously served in Haiti and in Germany. His peers said that Rodney was hilarious. He had a way of quoting things form the 'Book of Chief' and sometimes he would just make stuff up. His awards and decorations included the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. He died at age 34 in Baghdad of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident. Rodney died of a heart attack. His father, Robert Jarvis, an Army veteran, died of a heart attack at the age of 55. Rodney is married and the father of two daughters. He is also survived by his mother, Betty, five brothers, Russ, Randy, Rick and Tommy and Ron Jarvis, and one sister, Robin Bacola.
