Warren was a sargent who bravely served his country in the European Theater during World War II (March 1943-Jan. 1946).

Warren G. Benson, 89, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at his home peacefully with his family surrounding him. He was born on May 26, 1924 in Etna Green, IN to Ora & Celia (Jones) Benson.

He lived most of his life in the Syracuse area and graduated in 1942 from Syracuse High School. He was a WWII Army veteran and was married on January 24, 1948 in Syracuse to Miriam E. "Pat" Losee who survives. He formerly owned / operated the Syracuse Dry Cleaners for 28 years and prior to that he was formerly employed at Fiedke Dry Cleaners in Goshen, Cambridge & Liberty Mobile Homes in Syracuse.

He was a member of the Church of God in North Webster, Life member & past commander of the Millersburg American Legion & V.F.W. in Syracuse.

He is survived by:
Wife - Miriam Benson of Syracuse
Daughter - Gail Benson - Sauers of Syracuse
Son - Jim (Pam) Benson of Syracuse
6 Grand - Amanda Benson, Brianne Sauers, Kim Davis, Leslie Vanover, Angela Frost, & David Killian
Several Gt. Grand & numerous Gt. Gt. Grandchildren
2 Sisters - Ilene Lindeman & Mary Stiffler both of Goshen

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter - Janet Patrick, son, Carl Benson, Gt. Gt. Grandsons - Henry Davis & Thomas Archer.

Visitation will be from 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Boyer of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.
