"Friday, January 19, 1900
Mrs. Martha A. Darden died on Monday night, January 15, 1900 at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. W. E. Lassiter, a few miles north of Suffolk. She was buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery on Tuesday. The funeral was conducted at Providence Methodist Church at _?_o'clock that afternoon by Rev. J.P. Deans, D.D., assisted by Rev. J. Thomas."

Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Lassiter desire to return thanks to their friends and neighbors in the hour of their sorrow and affliction, when their mother, Mrs. Martha Darden, was so ill, and after her death. May the richest blessings of a kind father be the lot of those who so tenderly ministered unto her."
