COLE, DEWITT CLINTON
DATE OF DEATH: 11/05/1940
BURIED AT: SECTION COLE SITE 9

"DeWitt Clinton Cole continued the family involvement in Republican politics. In the early twentieth century the Republican Party played very much a minority role in a state almost totally dominated by Democrats. The Republicans in those years had almost no hope of carrying a statewide election, nor did they have any strength in Cobb County. Much of the correspondence in this collection deals with D. C. Cole's involvement between 1913-1940 in controversies over the leadership of the state Republican Party, with patronage concerns when Republican Presidents served in Washington, and with Cole's employment as a special agent for the Bureau of Investigation in the U.S. Department of Justice." --http://www.kennesaw.edu/history/Cole.htm
