"DeWitt Clinton Cole continued the family involvement in Republican politics. In the early twentieth century the Republican Party played very much a minority role in a state almost totally dominated by Democrats. The Republicans in those years had almost no hope of carrying a statewide election, nor did they have any strength in Cobb County. Much of the correspondence in this collection deals with D. C.
