Born in Mulberry, FL., on Nov. 17, 1931, he was a lifelong resident. Joe went to work with CSX after graduating from Kathleen Senior High School until going into the Army for three years. After getting out, he returned to CSX where he worked until his retirement as general foreman.
He was preceded in death by his father Dennis F. Oneal; mother Gaynell Oneal, brother Billy Oneal. He is survived by his wife Ulve Oneal, Lakeland; son Terrell Oneal, Apollo Beach, FL.; daughter Denise Smith, Plant City; brother Jerry Oneal, Weeki Wachee, FL.; grandsons Craig Smith, Wesley Chapel, FL., Chad Smith, Plant City.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Lanier Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2009 at Lanier Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Socrum Cemetery.
