She was the daughter of Charles E. MacBride and Bertha Van Dyde. Family records cites her birth date as February 15, 1891 in New Jersey, but according to the 1900 census she was born in February 1892 in Pennsylvania. On ships' manifests in both 1927 and 1928 she gives her birthdate as Feb 15, 1892 and her place of birth as Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her Texas death certificate also has this exact information.
