"In the bright days of his vigorous youth Joseph Howard Nelson, who was affectionately known to him many friends as "Buddy", passed away on Wednesday afternoon, November 15, and his death left a void in the circle of family and friends which he brightened which can never be filled. To his widowed mother the loss of her only son wa a blow which only her Christian fortitude can sustain. Joseph was a dutiful son, and a loving brother. His work was cheerfully and well done, while kindness to all was the motive for all his acts. The home at Point Cadet will not seem the same. Quantities of flowers wre laid on his grave yesterday evening showing the feeling with which he was held by many friends".
Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Records Book 1 page 65 list the cause of death as an obstruction of the bowels. Joseph's age is given as 16 yrs, 1 mo, and 13 days.
