OKLAHOMA CITY — L. Ilene Bland went to her heavenly home, Saturday, July 11, 2009. She had been a resident in an Oklahoma City nursing home.
Ilene was born July 9, 1919, in Van Buren County, Arkansas to parents, Cecil and Dicie Williams. She married Barb "B.L." Bland on November 28, 1935, and they had four children. She and her family moved from a farm near Econtuchka to Shawnee in 1956, where she spent most of her life.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; infant son, Darrel; sister, Elma; brother, Opie; and grandson, Jason Young.
Survivors include her son, Quinton and Judy Bland of Eufaula Lake area; daughters, Sonya and Lloyd Jackson of Oklahoma City and Tonya and Cliff Powell of Oklahoma City; grandson, Jeffrey and Kim Bland of Summerville, South Carolina and great-granddaughter, Mallori Bland of Summerville, South Carolina; a sister, Berniece Schlie of Reding, California, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Ilene enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Guests in her home were treated to delicious apple pies, buttermilk biscuits and chocolate gravy, as well as cakes and cobblers.
Services were Wednesday, July 15, at Walker Funeral Chapel. Her family and friends will greatly miss her.
