Homer Lanam, son of Martin and Irrena Lanam, was born March 28, 1875 in Noble county, Ohio. He came to Rossville, Kansas in the spring of 1883 and to Clark county, Kansas in the spring of 1886. His parents owned land and settled east of Minneola, Kansas. He was united in marriage to Edith Emmaline Cornell in 1900. To this union were born two daughters, Lillian Beatrice and Vera Florence. He had interest in farming, carrying of the U.S. mail and trucking through the years. He remembered well helping as a cowboy with large herds of cattle in the early years, he was a big help to his own family in his early life, giving of his time and loyalty in times of need and strife. He was known among his friends as a trustworthy man. His wife preceded him in death December 5, 1939, also one granddaughter, Nona Fern Stults, June 5, 1931. He leaves to mourn his two daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Stults and Mrs. Vera Montgomery both of Minneola, Kansas, a grandson, Melvin Stults, and one great-grandson, Stanley Stults of Springfield, Colorado, and one brother, Howard of Minneola, Kansas.
Mr. Lanam had been in ill health since 1959 and departed this life August 8, 1963 at the Bucklin hospital. He will be missed by his family and friends.
