Clara E. (Howell) Barry, 92, residing in the Healthwin Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, died on Monday Aug. 2.
Clara was born on March 16, 1907 in Wakarusa, Ind., to Claude and Emma (Bixler) Nettrour. She had lived most of her life, in the area.
In 1931, Clara married Rueben Howell, who preceded her in death in 1958. She then married Eugene Barry, who preceded her in death in 1989.
Clara had two sons, Dale E. Howell and Duane Howell, both of whom preceded her in death.
Clara is survived by seven grandchildren, Rob Howell, Cindy Howell, and Michael Howell, all of Seattle, Wash., Diamond Bateson of South Bend, Ind., Desiree Andrews of Goshen, Ind., and Doreen Zimmerman and Duane Howell, both of Mishawaka, Ind.; a daughter-in-law, Donna Joy of Mishawaka; 10 great-grandchildren; and by two sisters, Clara Elma Lynn of Granger, Ind., and Beulah Coffell of Bremen, Ind.
She was a long time member of the Apostolic Temple in South Bend.
Funeral services for Clara (Howell) Barry will be held at 10 a.m. today in the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Officiating will be the Rev. Lester Shindledecker of Mishawaka. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Visitation was held on Wednesday in the funeral home.
