~ Nadene Ammons Obituary ~

Nadene Ammons, 84, of Longview passed away Nov. 9, 2008, at Oregon Health Science & University Hospital in Portland.

She was born June 27, 1924, in Anadarko, Okla., to Horace and Frances (Goodman) McCarley. Nadene graduated from high school in Mill City, Ore. She was a welder in the Kaiser Shipyards in Portland during World War II. Nadene moved to the local area from Oregon 63 years ago.

Nadene was a homemaker. She was an active member of Eastern Star and a past worthy high priestess of White Shrine. Nadene was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending several summers fishing in Alaska.

She is survived by two sisters, Roxie Antilla and Phyllis Sanford; a brother, H.W. McCarley Jr.; and three stepchildren, Margaret Ammons, David Ammons and Linda Murphy.

Nadene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 49 years, Leonard T. Ammons; a brother, C.L. McCarley; and a grandson, Steven Murphy.

At her request, no service will be held.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Burn Center, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.

Arrangements are by Cascade Northwest Funeral Chapel at Green Hills Memorial Gardens & Crematory.
