Philip Menaul Aronson, 65, of Redmond, Wash., died unexpectedly of natural causes Sept. 26, 2008, at home.

He was born to Roy Philip and Gertrude (Menaul) Aronson April 16, 1943, in Pasadena, Calif. In 1946 the family moved to Longview, where Phil spent his childhood, graduating from R. A. Long High School in 1961. He attended Washington State University and was an enthusiastic fan of the Cougars. He later transferred to the University of Washington Dental School, graduating in 1968 with special honors in periodontics.

Mr. Aronson established a dental practice in Monroe, Wash., with emphasis in orthopedic orthodontics and temporal mandibular dysfunction. He retired from his Monroe practice in 2003 after 35 years.

He had many interests including a lifelong love of deep sea and fly fishing as well as upland bird hunting for which he normally had two dogs. He was a master bridge player and advanced level ham radio operator. He also enjoyed sophisticated trading strategies in various financial markets. Recent interests include watercolor painting, playing guitar, cooking and woodworking utilizing exotic woods.

Survivors include two brothers, Alan in Washington, D.C., and Bruce and his wife, Joni, in Whitefish, Mont.; a nephew, Glen; and three nieces, Sarah, Danelle and Katherine.

A private service will be held Dec. 28 in Whitefish followed by the scattering of his ashes at a trout stream.

Given his love of animals, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Humane Society of the United States, Dept. GAIT04, 2100 L Street NW, Washington, DC 20037.
