Retired Army THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Eugene Stribel, age 85, widower of Mrs. Margie Stribel, of George McDuffie Rd., died Thursday, July 16, 2009 in Thomson Health & Rehab. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 20, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Full Military Honors. Mr. Stribel was a native of Hennessey, Oklahoma, but had lived in Thomson for many years. He was retired from the U.S. Army after 24 years of service. He was a member of Second Baptist Church of Thomson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Margie Stribel and his son, Mr. Dale Stribel. He is survived by two sons, Mr. John (Regina) Stribel and Mr. Terry Stribel, both of Thomson; two daughters, Beth Stribel, Ocklawaha, Fl. and Colleen Stribel, Nashville, Tn.; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Stribel; four grandchildren, Shawn Waller, Dawn Scotnicki, Lauren Morrow, and Christy Smith; and five great- grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jerry Tankersley, Howard Burnley, Richard Bruntz, Jimmy Waller, Ray Lampp, Gene Jenkins. Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
