Anchorage resident Lyle Eugene "Mike" Montgomery, 65, died Sept. 20 near Delta.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, Eighth Avenue and E Street. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel with the Rev. Robert Young of Christ Congregational Church officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Fort Richardson National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Buck Peters, Lige Wierzbicki, Henry Brown and Roland Wierzbicki.
Mr. Montgomery was born Dec. 20, 1924, in Reedsburg, Wis.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He moved to Alaska in 1969, where he loved to fish and hunt and be close to nature, according to the family.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dianna.
Mr. Montgomery is survived by his wife, Norma, his son, Donald, his son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Mary, his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Randy Edgin, and his granddaughters, Kristal Edgin and Jennifer Edgin, all of Anchorage; his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Donna; his sisters, Gladyes Rathman and Hazel Lehman; and several nieces and nephews.
